"Winter Solstice and Holiday" Bread Sale

The holiday season is upon us and I hope everyone is feeling very cozy and Covid-free. The winter solstice will be here soon as well, December 21st, and after that the days will be getting longer. That is something to celebrate, and while I can't speak for anyone else, I know that I will be very glad to have more and more sunshine in my days moving forward.

As a bread baker, I am a firm believer that sourdough is always in season. That being said, winter-time and the snowy soup nights it brings with it is undeniably the perfect match for a fresh loaf, so that is something that peps me up and helps me get through these cold months. So much of the holiday season is just about being with loved ones and sharing a good time over some good food. I know that rolls are usually a staple on many holiday tables, but personally, I am more of a rustic bread girl myself. Shocking.

So it's obvious that I like sourdough bread, and I am excited to do some baking and eating and baking and eating this winter, especially for my upcoming "Winter Solstice and Holiday" bread sale. Don't worry, I won't eat all the profits. The order form is up now on the "Bread Orders" page of my website, and it will be open until the 20th. I will start mixing, working, and baking the dough on the 22nd, available for pickup at 30 Railroad Street all day on the 23rd and until 12 pm on the 24th. I will be baking regular sourdough loaves ($5) and rosemary and thyme loaves ($6). Side note, if you have ideas in mind for flavor combos you think I should use in my bread, let me know! You can send me a message using the contact form on my website or directly send me an email at annagkaig@gmail.com. Same goes for any questions, don't hesitate to reach out!

I am finishing up my first semester at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. I love it here, great classes, great professors, a super welcoming cross country team, but I have to say, I can't wait to really cook again, in a non-roach infested kitchen might I add. So that's where I'm at, finishing up final essays and excited to spend some time with a giant blob of bread dough. I am also looking forward to being home and seeing some familiar faces, so to whoever is reading this, I hope you are doing well and happy holidays! Stay safe.
